Model Airplanes

Model airplanes have been a favorite hobby of thousands of people for decades.  Model airplanes are scaled down versions of real aircraft, ranging from jumbo jets to simple gliders.  Model airplanes can be static (for display only) or flying models.  Often made of balsa wood, foam, fiberglass, metal, and plastic, model airplanes range in complexity from snap-on construction to models that must be painted and put together.  While model airplanes are often used as a hobby for aircraft enthusiasts, aircraft companies also sometimes use them, putting the model in wind tunnels or running other tests on them.  Model airplanes have been around for decades, and their popularity continues to grow.
